The Land of The Rising Sun holds some of the most exotic machines and squadrons in the world. It has been five years since COAP visited Japan, so we have decided to do an immense pair of intensive tours to this brilliant country, which is an absolute must for photographers. So, this winter we are offering a choice of not one but two amazing trips to coincide with JASDF base air shows and to capture varied military operations from across across this truly amazing nation.
This really is a two-week long odyssey allowing you see one of the best equipped air forces in the world, alongside the extensive variety of United States military unit deployments and to experience the unique essence of Japan, from incredibly packed mega cities, to amazing vistas and areas of real historic significance.
It will be a low numbers group, with comfortable passenger vans to travel the country. Your guides will be Rich Cooper and Steve Comber, who both have extensive experience of Japan and have the photography pedigree to ensure you get the very most out of your trip of a lifetime.

This details the movements of the tour around the country and the individual locations and flying units we hope to see during the trip.
You are very welcome to book your own flights to Japan. If you prefer to do so, then it is essential that you book flights based on the COAP timings and use the same destination airports. Alternatively, sit back and let our partner HC Travel do all the work for your logistics!

This is a visit outside fully operational military bases and every aspect is subject to security, operational, technical and weather issues. As such, COAP are not responsible for cancellation at any stage or non-flying activity. Safety and insurance is your own responsibility and risk. We are not guests of the JSDF, and will be using the public access areas during the flight activity. It is perfectly normal for security checks to take place on the perimeter, and these will be handled accordingly. Please note that access around the operational areas of the airbase is physically demanding and unfortunately anyone using a wheelchair, walking sticks or crutches may not be suitable for this type of activity.
Step ladders will be required at some locations and these will need to be purchased in Japan at your expense.
