Tangmere Military Aviation Museum - Yet Another COAP First!

COAP is pleased to be joining Tangmere Military Aviation Museum (TMAM) on Saturday 8th March 2025 for an exclusive afternoon & evening photoshoot!

A curated selection of amazing airframes will be under lights, with and without re-enactors, to bring aviation history back to life with some rather special historic airframes held within the TMAM collection.

Limited to 40 photographers, tickets will sell out fast for this exclusive shoot at Tangmere - an aviation site steeped in history - so don’t miss your chance to participate in this special event in the 2025 aviation calendar.

Tangmere’s collection of airframes displayed outside will form the initial focus of the event, and will be repositioned specifically for you.

Both Harriers will be towed forward out of the line offering an opportunity for a 'Royal Navy’ & ‘Falklands’ themed shoot, whilst also offering the opportunity to shoot individual airframes separately into the ‘Blue Hour’.. Airframes featured outside will include Phantom FGR2 XV408, finished in No 6 Squadron Markings, the 1969 Daily Mail Transatlantic Air Race participant Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR3 XV744 in No 1 Squadron markings (weather permitting, the canopy will be opened on this aircraft).

Along the back row will be Westland Wessex HU5 XS511 with rotors stowed, Sea Harrier FA2 XZ459 Falklands veteran (then an FRS1 version serving with 800 NAS onboard HMS Hermes completing 49 CAP Missions & 4 bombing sorties). Finally, completing the 'Navy’ theme, the de Havilland Sea Vixen FAW2 XJ580 ends the line up outside - a mighty fine offering!

Moving inside Tangmere’s museum buildings, COAP will focus on a fantastic & varied selection of subjects. Our imaginative, creative & dramatic lighting will aim to capture time-travel imagery from yesteryear with accurate re-enactors. The famous WB188 - which normally has a shroud of interesting info boards and exhibits arounds it, will be 'sanitised' for some rare images as clutter free as possible. Shoots inside may run concurrently to ensure the most productive use of photographer's shoot time.

We'll be travelling back in time to capture pilots with Hunter F4 WV322 cockpit section in striking No 234 Squadron markings, plus pilot & navigator at the controls in Canberra B2 WE113 nose section & English Electric Lightning F53 displayed as Lightning F6 XR753 resplendent in No 23 Squadron Markings.

And finally, well worth waiting for, 'The Lady in Red' Hunter F3 WB188 flown by Neville Duke launching from RAF Tangmere to capture a New World Speed Record on 7th September 1953. It's our aim to capture images of this iconic aircraft with & without a 'Neville Duke' re-enactor.
