Yet Another COAP First!
What a wonderful piece of preservation!

Perfect hosts Jon and Shelley Booty welcome COAP photographers at 15:00 for an afternoon and evening photoshoot with Hawker Hunter F5 WT660, finished in the markings of the Day Fighter Leader School based at RAF West Raynham during its brief service life between 1955 and 1957.

Jon and Shelley are currently in the process of rebuilding the listed VHB Control Tower as their private residence, which also houses a fascinating museum and collection of items associated with the history of the former airfield.

Prior to the shoot, our COAP group will be offered a fascinating tour of the museum and control tower. Tea, coffee, cold drinks, and light snacks will be available throughout the afternoon and evening from Shelley’s kitchen.

Although RAF West Raynham closed in 1991, the original 1939 hangars and ancillary buildings throughout the former base are listed and generally remain intact. Thus, they present a perfect location for an RAF photoshoot and may offer the most realistic backdrop for any event with a Hunter!

WT660 will be positioned on the original operational pan on which it once sat, travelling back to 1956 with re-enactors and period vehicles to add realism to the already incredible scenes to be found at RAF West Raynham.
Positioned with type-C Hangar 1 as a perfect backdrop for the Hunter F5, it is hoped that Mother Nature will offer a spectacular sunset, through the ‘blue hour’ into the evening under lights, with peri track lights to add realism, with the event finishing at 20:00.
A visit to RAF West Raynham offers many opportunities to capture imagery of the listed buildings that are generally off-limits to the public.

PLUS! Immerse yourself in RAF aviation history over a full weekend with COAP...
While this shoot is on Saturday, the 22nd, COAP has neatly arranged another shoot at the RAF Radar Museum at Netishead, only a 25-minute drive from West Raynham, on Sunday, 23rd March. This nicely dovetails with RAF history, which was instrumental in maintaining Britain’s aerial defence, including the operation of No. 85 Squadron's Bristol Bloodhound Mk II surface-to-air missiles formerly based at RAF West Raynham.
