An afternoon and evening with an icon of British Aviation with a one-off appearance from a V Force crew bus.
The TLE team are extremely pleased to be returning to Wellesbourne in 2025 to continue supporting this much loved Avro Vulcan with a wonderful added attraction of a V Force Crew Bus as an additional prop. This is the first time and will be the only time that the crew bus will be available. A huge thanks to the Solway Aviation museum, who have agreed to bring her South and make a special visit.
The event will start at 14:30 with a welcome address from the Chairman of the 655 Maintenance and Preservation Society (655MaPS). Shortly after this, photography will start, taking advantage of the late Autumn afternoon light.
There will be various cameos set up for you to enjoy. These will include ‘Cold War’ Reenactors who will play the parts of Ground Crew and Airmen. The Society has some wonderful equipment that will also be at our disposal, such as a genuine tug, towing arm and, of course, the all-important payload loaded in the bomb bay.
XM655 will be positioned on the taxiway directly in front of where she normally lives, affording the luxury of a clear backdrop. After dark, we will light the aircraft and continue the theme of recreating cameos that represent everyday scenes that were once commonplace on RAF Bases around the UK.
To ensure you don't miss any of the action, hot food and drinks will be available for you to enjoy (at extra cost) all evening just off to the side of where the photography will happen. The photography is due to finish around 19.30, with XM655 set in a full state of 'ready to depart', all her lights on and the ground crew giving her pilot directions from the taxiway.
Exact itinerary and joining instructions to follow after booking.
