The return to the Lightning Preservation Group at Bruntingthorpe! We are very grateful to the LPG for another dedicated photo shoot with its precious machines!
It will be pretty different to previous events, but with some expert choreography it will work!
Back in early 2020 we had to cancel this Lightning shoot for obvios reasons... Those that purchased tickets for that cancelled 2020 event have been honoured and their places rolled over to this 2023 version, so the number of tickets is limited for the time being.
Since that time, the entire Bruntingthorpe set-up and site logistics have greatly changed, as you may have seen over the last few years. The aircraft are now fenced in and the whole area in which to work is much, much smaller. This represented a considerable challenge for the LPG to host events (there were a number of other practical reasons too).
Those obstacles are now overcome and the LPG itself held its own “welcome back” event a month or so back, which was very successful, with 250 people welcomed.
Accordingly, we am happy to announce that the dedicated COAP Photo Shoot with the LPG will now take place, with the date set as Saturday 25th February, for a strictly limited number of tickets to allow for as much flexible photography as possible.
1300hrs: Arrival & Briefing
1330hrs: Shoot start
1845hrs: Event close
Tripods will be essential, no flash guns at night, wear suitable clothing, good footwear, work as a team, listen to the briefing and the instructions on the day. If you need assistance with your camera/settings etc, please ask.
Lens choice will be wide angle (18-55mmm can be useful, 24-105mm mostlly, 100-400mmm possible for close up of crews etc). No specialist equipment will be needed to get the results.
Unique to this event will be the fact that there are no food or toilet structure. The LPG is still in a rebuild phase and these simply do not exist on location, so please bring any food and drink.
Parking will be on site in a carefully managed arrangement, directed by LPG staff.
Do not enter via the Bruntingthorpe main gate. The entire LPG compound is no longer accessible from the airfield (and vice-versa). Things have changed... A lot!
There will be an engine run, so ear protection is an absolute MUST! Please note that due to noise restrictions, this will not be in darkness.
